During the Little Ice Age, the Llardana Glacier covered an area of 40 hectares and reached a length of 840 metres. Although it was not as long as the Posets and La Paúl glaciers, it currently holds more than a quarter of the ice in the Posets Massif.
Its favourable northern orientation and the protection offered by the Espadas-Posets ridge allow it to maintain a small feeding area, which has been reduced to less than half in the last two decades. At its lower limit, the ice is hidden under erosion material. It still shows some longitudinal cracks as a sign of its activity, although it is evolving towards a typical helero configuration.
It is currently the only active glacier in the Posets Massif. It covers 3.4 ha, representing two-thirds of the ice in the massif, and ranks eighth in terms of size among the Pyrenean glaciers.

In 2024, with little activity and receding, it will be sheltered at the base of the Posets-Espadas ridge (Carlos González).
