The Ramougn (or Ramoung) glacier is an example of a residual glacier, located in the cirque formed by the Pic de Néouvielle and the Pic de Ramougn to the east of the massif. During the Little Ice Age, the glacier was the smallest in the massif, covering an area of 6 hectares, with a maximum length of 550 metres, reduced to just over 300 metres at the beginning of the 20th century.
In 1985, it was a glacier that gradually fragmented, leaving small remnants of ice under the protection of the Ramougn Northwest Ridge. In 2012, a portion of residual ice remained in the upper sector of the cirque, next to the rock polished by the abrasion of the former glacier, frequently covered by a snowfield. As a residual feature, slowly reducing in size, it became extinct in 2024.
