50) Pène Blanque

The Tromouse Cirque, located on the northern slope of Pico de Pène Blanque or Peña Blanca (2,905 m), features a 350-metre wall that forms the border between France and Spain. This, combined with the proximity of the Munia Glacier (49), has meant that the glacial ice has been preserved until the 21st century.
The upper limit of the former glacier and subsequent ice field was located at an altitude of 2,550 m. Its length and extent during the Little Ice Age were 360 m and 8.5 ha respectively.
In 2009, the Pène Blanque glacier was declared extinct, although, as in the case of the Robiñera glacier, the possible existence of some remains in the form of permafrost cannot be ruled out.
